Greetings Mkhonto KaShaka, greetings Nqolebovu Kamasizila, greetings Beautiful Birds, sanibonani Swai Swai!

On this beautiful Friday may I take this opportunity to greet the soccer fraternity and indeed our beautiful supporters in the name of this great club Umkhonto KaShaka.
As per my promise to you dearest supporters during the off season, we are now hungrier for glory. As the saying goes, once tasted always wanted, we have tasted the glory of winning a treble so naturally we want to do better compared to last season.

We want to win everything on offer. We are fully aware though that this will not be easy but we have to fight tooth and nail to make our dreams a reality.
We are not taking anything for granted.  As stated earlier on in this column, we have already put behind us our last season’s success and we are actually hungry for more. The players themselves have reassured everyone including you our wonderful supporters of their desire to dominate the scene once again.

We welcome the new feathers!

It is with great excitement and pleasure that we welcome to the fold the likes of defender Elias Tsabalaka and attacking midfielder Stanford Ncube. The duo has already featured for this great club.
Their official debut was during last weekend’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup game against Moneni Pirates, which was played at Somhlolo National Stadium. To the two players, please feel at home. You are most welcome to the nest!

As for Ncube, this indeed is an emotional return home. Everyone knows Ncube played his best football in our colours and now that he is back expect nothing less than fireworks.
He showed glimpses of his old self against Pirates but we know what he is capable of. He has not yet given the team even half of what he is truly capable of. The team’s culture also flows in his veins. He knows exactly what is expected of him at this great club on and off the playing field that is. It will definitely be a long season for our opponents.

To Tsabalaka, I can only say it took him a long time to finally find his way back home. He too is aware that Swallows are home to him because when he first arrived in the country, it was at Swallows where he received a warm welcome. The team could not sign him then but he is now back and his priceless experience will be key in the new season

Pirates’ game: Form is temporary class is permanent!

We were so thrilled to be able to proceed to the next stage of the tournament when we beat Moneni Pirates 2-0 at Somhlolo National Stadium.
As the saying goes; form is temporary but class is permanent.
They were the only team we had failed to beat last season so Sunday’s game was more of a grudge match and we were overjoyed with the results. Considering that this was just the team’s first official match of the season, the boys played well even though we know what they are really capable of doing. Woe unto our next opponents I dare say.

Thank you and thank you Swai Swai!

I feel so ashamed that up to now, I have not taken the opportunity of saying thank you Swai Swai for voting us to play in the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup.
We at this great club are just short for words to express our gratitude to all of you who ensured that the team qualified to play in the tournament. May God bless you abundantly and may you choose wisely by choosing to continue flying with the Birds.
Let me also take this opportunity to thank the team’s directors led by Victor Gamedze for their unconditional love. They really take care of the team and for that we are grateful, as without them we would not be where we are today.
I will talk to you again next week. I love you all!
Shaka Akashayeki!
