MBABANE- The celebrated King’s Golf Cup will be held on the first week of September, it has been gathered.

Sam Richards who is the vice-chairman of the committee tasked with organising the prestigious event said plans to stage the event on the first week of September were already in place, saying the actual dates would be announced in due course.

"We are working on the logistics at the moment and we will make an announcement once everything is in place," he said.

Asked on targeted international guests for the event, Richards maintained that the finer details would be public-ised upon finalising the logistics.

Some of the well known personalities to have graced the tournament include former soccer star Pollen Ndlanya and Bantu Holomisa from South Africa.

Close to E1 million was pumped in by companies towards last year’s event. The donors included Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, MTN Swaziland and Nedbank, to mention a few.

There were over 230 golfers in attendance in the last edition where 190 were amateurs and 40 professionals. The event is the biggest golf tournament in the country and has been running for the past five years. The major highlight is the tee-off by His Majesty King Mswati III. It plays a significant role in foreign direct investment and sport tourism.
