MTN grand finale!
Wololomani… wabola ugwayi aboshiwe… Sekunjalo Gazi, we are back and back with a bang after sihlabe likhefu last weekend because phela of the Mayhem Day…er May Day other-wise known as ‘Worker’s Day’.
Gazi, to say we missed you would be the understa-tement of the Year and we know kutsi nanani you missed us so much. Phela tsine nani we are like two peas in a pod. Simunye and siyohlukaniswa kufa Gazi kwasho bantfu bashada. We have to say this, phela we enjoyed ourselves so much last weekend and took time off to reflect on this column and we discovered kutsi vele being popular as it is, we have to widen our source base and we are happy that from every corner of the country, we have people who will bring us all the juicy stories. That’s why nje we want to encourage you not to miss a copy of the Swazi News because every Saturday we will be filling this page with ema-exclusive kuphela nje.
Gazi, morals have decayed so much in this country vele sekubi. Talking of morals reminds us about lendzaba mlonyeni yanati tekhabo-Young Buffaloes nalama-allegations e-bribery ebadlali be-XI Men. Gazi, we predicted khona la kutsi this year’s league title race will be intense, spell-binding and in the end, vele iyobanjwa nguleshone nayo. But even the always cheeky us didn’t predict it could be so dirty, so ugly, so crisis-laden, so corrupt, so vague, so anti-football.
Kubi Gazi. Nanyalo tsine we are shell-shocked, puzzled, bamb-oozled, you can mention any adjective you can think of but we are disappointed Gazi about the latest turn of even-ts. Nanyalo Gazi it’s like somebody will wake us up atsi uyadlala. How can a team Gazi as respected as the army side go out of its way to do all the things alleged by the XI Men players especially the officials said to be involved in this? One of them we were under the impression kutsi uyakholwa and we can tell you now Gazi, though we hardly go to Chur-ch (sesadibana nelivangeli emngcwabeni) God doesn’t approve this.
Gazi, when we glanced over the sworn affidavits signed by the players our jaws just dropped. Hawu? How can an official of such high ranking in the army tell players NOT TO SCORE in return for a job in the army when we all know kwatsiwa NO JOBS in the army this year. If this is not corruption Gazi, then the word has no meaning. Gazi, we know vele at this stage of the season sekusebenta bo-Mafia and all kinds of under-handed tactics to clinch the league trophy or avoid relegation. But what we have heard kutsi one of the teams officials spent a fortune driving players around and making empty promises to achieve their goal shows how desperate some people can be.
What shocked us phela when we heard the story is that the leading official has blamed everything under the sun on his team’s flagging fortunes.
Then Gazi, we popped in phela last weekend to one of the games and were shocked to see one of the teams playing like a bunch of homosexuals, rolling all over the pitch and going through the motions. Gazi, we are not fools, we could tell nje kutsi lokuncane had exchanged hands lapha. Kudlalwa ngatsi nje. Gazi, we don’t know what the FA or the PLS can do but such things tend to spoil the whole inte-grity of football and the game itself. Swazi football needs to exorcise this demon which has filtered through. As the teams nje prepare for the MTN grand finale today, vele stories of kutsengana kwema-teams and players will dominate lunch tables and in the end, we could end up sesifana ne-Italian football in the recent past. Gazi, like Italian football, we need to take the extra step and punish those involved in these lies, deceit and bribery by banning some of the officials involved for life and docking those teams points.
That’s the only way we can bring this scourge to an end. Sitsini nje nyalo Gazi on the final day of the season when there will be laughter in one camp and tears in the next camp. In the end, whosoever wins the league we shall be left with more questions than answers. Then Gazi, what do you call that?
It’s bad, so bad….tsine nje we are dripping inside and no longer care who wins it. What an anti-climax to a season that had so much promise and so much entertainment. Sies…
