EPL GAMES ON ESWATINI TV
EZULWINI – Eswatini TV has secured broadcast rights for one of the most exciting leagues in the world – the English Premier League (EPL).
Eswatini TV Chief Executive Officer Mlamuli Dlamini, announced the latest developments last night, during a cocktail event hosted by the British High Commission in Ezulwini. Dlamini shared that the rights were secured through a fruitful partnership with Solid Impact in collaboration with INFRONT, based in France. Although finer details of the deal could not be disclosed, it was reliably gathered that the rights did not cost less than E100 000.Selected 4pm games will be broadcast from next Saturday, starting with the showdown between last season’s runners-up Arsenal and Wolves.
“The EPL is not just a football league; it is a global phenomenon that captivates millions of fans, including here in Eswatini. “Our partnership with the UK (United Kingdom) Embassy is one we hold in the highest regard and we are eager to continue working together to further the growth and development of the local television industry,” said Dlamini. Elliot Haynes, who is the Acting High Commissioner, expressed hope that the partnership would bring exciting benefits for the country, stressing the desire to assist Eswatini benefit from EPL programmes.
“The UK has always been a place that welcomes diverse perspectives.
“Eswatini will stand alongside other countries that value quality, tradition, drama and family-ftiendly culture,” he highlighted. Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, also witnessed the festivities. Some football bigwigs led by President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane also witnessed the event. Notably, Eswatini TV once broadcast the EPL games in the past alongside big global events including the World Cup.
