TOP SA ADVOCATE FOR MANZINI WANDERERS
MBABANE – They are pulling out all the stops.
This is the story of Manzini Wanderers who have engaged South Africa-based Senior Counsel (SC) Advocate and former Cricket South Africa (CSA) President Norman Arendse, in their appeal case, which is before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Appeals Board. An impeccable source close to the maroon and white hub giants revealed that the side had written to the EFA, informing them about the latest developments in their legal panel. “The football association received the letter, which was informing them about Arendse, yesterday afternoon,” the source said.
The Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe-led side Governor Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli, confirmed that they had engaged the senior counsel to assist in their case. “Yes, it’s true that we have since engaged Advocate Norman Arendse, who once represented Richards Bay in one of South African football cases,” Mdluli said. He also revealed that in the letter in possession with this publication, their legal team would apply for a short postponement for the matter. “We shall also be moving his Certificate of Audience Application at the High Court of Eswatini,” he added.
EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe, said they had received the letter from Wanderers.
On the other hand, Denver Sundowns Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elvis Dube, said they were not informed of the latest development, as they were advised by their representative Zakhele Dlamini, to attend the case, which was supposed to be virtual. This case started when Wanderers lodged a protest on Sundowns duo of Skipper Jimoh Moses and then goalkeeper Bernard Ayikwei, alleging that they had no valid work permits before the relegation six-pointer, which was played at the Somhlolo National Stadium on May 19, 2024, and was won by Ikappa Kappa with a 4-2 scoreline.
The case was eventually decided on July 1, 2024, after the EFA Disciplinary Committee (DC) Chairperson Thulani Sibandze’s verdict was against Wanderers. This did not sit well with the ‘Weslians’, as they filed an Appeal, which was a non-starter last week Tuesday, as it was postponed to yesterday.
