NSINGIZINI TO PLAY IN SA’S 10TH BIGGEST STADIUM
MBABANE – Nsingizini Hotspurs consistently strive for excellence in all endeavours aligned with their esteemed brand.
Affectionately known as Insingizi Yezulu, the team recently unveiled their decision to make the illustrious Moses Mabhida Stadium their home ground for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Their upcoming clash against Stellenbosch on August 17 will unfold at this grand venue, with the kick-off scheduled for 5pm. Subsequently, the second leg is slated for August 24 at Danie Craven, a stadium with a capacity of 16 000 seats.
According to recent data released by Football Hub, the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban ranks as the 10th largest stadium in South Africa in terms of capacity. This multi-purpose venue, situated in the KwaZulu-Natal province, bears the name of Moses Mabhida, a distinguished former general secretary. Boasting a total capacity of 70 000 seats, the stadium can be upscaled to accommodate 85 000 attendees for major events. The stadium holds a significant legacy, having hosted seven FIFA World Cup matches, including a semi-final and was acclaimed as the most popular stadium in South Africa through an online poll.
Design
Noteworthy, for its design that allows natural ventilation, the stadium features an elevated platform, a facade of perforated metal sheeting and a cable-tied canopy roof. Originally constructed as a playing venue for the 2010 World Cup, it currently serves as the home ground for AmaZulu FC.Banele Ngobe, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nsingizini, expressed gratitude for the leadership’s commitment to providing the team with top-notch playing facilities. He conveyed his appreciation, stating: “The commitment of the leadership in ensuring that the team gets the best playing facilities is highly appreciated. Mr. President, thank you.”When questioned about the cost of securing such exceptional services, he maintained discretion, stating: “I can’t reveal figures, except to say that we have a good working relationship with the stadium management, because of our relationship with AmaZulu.”
