MBABANE – After parting ways with Ghanaian marksman Felix Tetteh, Royal Leopard are reportedly eyeing the acquisition of a prolific striker from Cameroon.

The potent goalscorer is poised to touch down in Eswatini before the commencement of the upcoming campaign and is likely to join the police side that is renowned for securing the services of foreign elite strikers. Aside from the Ghanaian Tetteh, the police side had previously enlisted the prowess of Cameroonian sharpshooter Charles Edoa Nga, who later joined Orlando Pirates.

According to his representative, Kamala Smith, Kone Lottin is a versatile attacker, capable of operating not only as an out-and-out striker, but also on either flank. “I’ve always harboured a soft spot for this player, who exudes an aura of power, boasts impressive pace coupled with formidable cardiovascular endurance and employs a direct style of play. He is lively, mobile and an arduous proposition for defenders to shackle,” remarked Smith. Previously, Kone has garnered a reputation for consistency, delivering scintillating performances in high-stakes encounters. However, his current form suggests that Kone has evolved as a player, widely regarded as one of the most lethal attackers plying their trade in the Rwandan league. During the 2022/23 season, Kone garnered further invaluable experience through AS Kigali’s participation in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Welcomed

When reached for comment, Leopard’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube, said he was yet to learn about purported link to the Cameroonian striker. “What I can confirm is that we are bidding farewell to Ghanaian striker Felix Tetteh. I can also corroborate that we have welcomed Gift Gamedze from Madlenya to our training sessions,” he stated. The striker has plundered 14 goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances for his club AS Kigali, during the 2022/23 season. In his second campaign, he netted eight goals and registered five assists in 14 games. Leopard’s recent foreign acquisition, Tetteh, endured a lacklustre season, managing to ripple the net on a solitary occasion in 13 outings. Leopard concluded the season in fifth position, amassing 46 points.  The club has reigned supreme in the league on eight occasions since 2003. They enjoyed a prosperous period, securing the title three consecutive times from 2013 to 2016. Additionally, they managed to clinch the coveted crown from 2020 to 2022.
