STRICT LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR NFD CLUBS
MBABANE – Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has announced stringent new licensing requirements, that all the National First Division (NFD) clubs must meet ahead of the 2024/2025 season.
EFA outlined some key areas that the clubs need to address in order to participate in the upcoming season. This move is aimed at enhancing the professionalism and sustainability of the league, ensuring that all participating clubs are well managed and financially stable. The EFA further stressed the importance of these requirements, noting that complete documentation and accuracy were crucial for the licensing process.
According to the press statement issued by EFA, clubs that fail to meet the deadline with all the requirement in place will not be allowed to register for the new season. “All clubs are, therefore, expected to submit all their outlined documentation to the EFA office by July 30, 2024, at the latest. Please note that no player will be allowed to register its players without a licence,’’ reads part of the statement. It is not a secret that over the years there have been some concerns from the NFD participating teams, as there overall prize money is way below the finances of running their games throughout the season. The overall prize money is fixed at E180 000. In an attempt to resolve the concerns, EFA has this time decided to review the requirements and implement some strategies which will ensure that the clubs are well taken care of throughout the season.
