MBABANE – After excelling in their respective groups, Kroos ‘Ghost Kroos’ Lukhele and nine others have made it to the national team of the Eswatini eSports Association.

Mbuso Dlamini and Matthew Dlamini also made the cut after their exceptional display in the FC24 tournament, which was staged at the Gallery Hotel in Matsapha on Saturday.
According to the Head of Development, Mbuso Dlamini, the leader and runner-up in each group of four made it to the national team. He also said they had to pick the best number three to make the list to 10. Others who made the cut players are Vangile Dlamini and Vuyo Ntshalintshali in Group A; and Mbusi Dlamini and Matthew Dlamini in Group B to secure a spot in the national team. In Group C, Lukhele came out top, with Ndumiso Mncina emerging as the runner-up. Makakabongwe Fakudze and Silandziso Dlamini were the best number threes.
“The selected 10 players will now compete in the league that is set to start in the next coming weeks. It will be played over four weeks on weekends only. After league completion, the top three will be shortlisted to represent the country in the African Qualifiers,” Dlamini said. The qualifiers will be held in Morocco from August 12-19, according to updated new dates.

I want to excel in World Cup - Kroos

MBABANE – He is aiming high. That is Kroos ‘Ghost Kroos’ Lukhele, who made these comments during the FC24 tournament, which was staged at the Gallery Hotel on Saturday. ‘Ghost Kroos’ is among the top 10 who were selected after coming out tops in group C. “I want to thank the Eswatini eSports Association (EEA) for giving us a platform to compete as players. I will regard it as a failure if I don’t win, and if they beat me, I will see that the standard is high,” Lukhele said.

He said the games were competitive and they were close. “My personal goal is to compete in the African Qualifiers in Morocco and the World Cup in Saudi Arabia. I want to put Eswatini on the map. Mostly, Eswatini is known for its rich culture, but they must know we have competitive eSports players,” he said. ‘Kroos’ lost in the semi-finals last year in the African Qualifiers.

Kroos has been cruising on his own last year as he played three games and won all of them. In the last four years, he has been dominating. Last year alone, he made over E9 000 in earnings. Asked if there were upcoming players, Lukhele said Matthew Dlamini was one of the highly competitive players, and he was looking forward to seeing him compete fairly this year.
