MBABANE – Woodlands have claimed the league title in the Mandla Mahewu-sponsored Mbabane Regional Football League B Division.

The Mbabane-based club had won the league with three fixtures remaining, where they had tallied 51 points in 19 matches. They eventually won 17 games and drew five to amass 56 points, as well as a healthy goal tally of 72. They have proven to be the best team in the league with their attacking prowess as well as a good defensive record, as they conceded 24 goals, in 22 match days. Meanwhile, second-placed in the B Division, Junction Stars were four victories shy of giving Woodlands a run for their money. However, they managed to also gain promotion into the A Division.

It is worth mentioning that Woodlands is coached by SuperSport, Elangeni and MDS Coach, Samukeliso Simelane, while being captained by former Mbabane Swallows development player and captain Wandile ‘Papi’ Mavimbela. Woodlands will be joining the likes of Royal Dynamos in the A Division next season, while the likes of Pine Valley, Waterford All Stars, Mpolonjeni Young Fighters and Mvakwelitje are headed to the B Division.

Lost

Meanwhile in the A Division, Double Action finished the league with two games lost in 30 league encounters. They managed to amass 68 points from 20 wins and eight draws. In second place are Royal Dynamos, which were two wins shy of competing for the Southern Stream of the Hhohho Regional Super League play-off spot.
