MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has suspended Manzini Wanderers defender Sihle ‘Mbhalaza’ Mkhonta ahead of the team’s crucial final league game against Denver Sundowns.

The hub giants who currently sit second from the bottom with 21 points, face a must-win game against bottom-placed Ikappa Kappa, who are on 18 points in their struggle to avoid relegation. As the Nyanga ‘Crooks’Hophe side battle for survival, they must also contend with the suspension of their influential defender ‘Mbhalaza’, who has been penalised by the Premier League of Eswatini  for accumulating three yellow cards in six matches.

As per Article 37(2) of the 2023 MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations, a player who receives six yellow cards is automatically suspended for his team’s next two matches, which means that the influential defender will be unavailable for Wanderers’  upcoming league match at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday. League champions Mbabane Swallows will be without the services of their dynamic box-to-box midfielder Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini.

The former Wanderers player received his sixth yellow card in a closely contested 1-0 victory against Ezulwini United at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre, a match that ultimately secured the league title for Caleb Ngwenya’s side.
Meanwhile, Mbabane Highlanders will also feel the absence of two key players in versatile players Mthunzi Mamba and Menzi Sithole, in their upcoming match against Green Mamba on Sunday at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. The match is set to kick off at 3pm.
