MBABANE – MTN Premier League strugglers Manzini Wanderers Skipper Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule’s contract has expired.

An impeccable source close to the former Mbabane Highlanders midfield maestro revealed that ‘Mlaba’ was due to play his last game for the ‘Weslians’, this weekend. The Hub giants will face Denver Sundowns in a Manzini relegation derby.

The former Sihlangu midfielder joined the maroon and white hub giants two seasons ago, from capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders; he signed a one-year contract which he renewed at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. This was after he helped Wanderers escape relegation by a whisker.

“Wanderers might lose their Captain, Mlaba, as his contract is set to expire this coming weekend. He might be playing his last game if the team does not act fast in re-engaging him again,” the source said. The former Mbabane Highlanders player, on the other hand, confirmed that it was true that his contract had expired, but did not want to comment further.

“Yes it’s true, but for now I am focussing on the game ahead,” Nkambule said. Meanwhile, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dianna ‘Girly’ Johnson, when contacted on the matter, said they would attend to players’ contracts after the conclusion of the season. “We are now concentrating on the team to survive relegation. We will then come to players’ contracts,” Johnson said. Wanderers are going to this do-or-die match three points ahead of Ikappa Kappa. The latter are in the basement.
