MANZINI – Blessed is the hand that gives than that takes.

This biblical verse sounds true to Manzini Lions Club, who have donated E50 000 to Special Olympics Eswatini (SOE) in an event which was held at the Manzini Club yesterday. The ceremony was graced by the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) office’s Fikile Shongwe, Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC) Communications Officer Dumsani Ntiwane, SOE Chairperson Louis Nxumalo and Manzini Lions Club members.

Presenting the donation was Sammy Msibi, who said as a club, it was one of their objectives to improve health and well-being to support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally as well as encouraging peace and international understanding. “This is not the first time we are helping the country’s community as the Manzini Lions Club are one of the over 49 000 clubs under the Lions International community, with a membership of over 14 million members,” Msibi said.

Special Olympics Eswatini Chairperson Nxumalo, on the other hand, said as an organisation, they were an affiliate of the Special Olympics International. “Today we would like to thank the Lions Club of Manzini for the grant which will assist the organisation in raising awareness about intellectual disabilities,” Nxumalo said.  Meanwhile, Ntiwane thanked Manzini Lions Club and Special Olympics Eswatini for the good job they were doing to raise awareness about intellectual disabilities, on behalf of ESRC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo. Dlomo’s words were echoed by Shongwe, as he thanked the club for the donation.
