JAMES PENNINGTON WINS ESRIC PRO-AM

MBABANE – Professional golfer James Pennington emerged as the winner of the Monthly Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) Pro-Am tournament.

The event which attracted professional and amateur golfers took place at the Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, beginning on Saturday and concluding on Sunday. The Eswatini golfer, Pennington, who is based in South Africa, achieved a combined score of 144. Despite starting poorly on Saturday, with a two-over-par score, he made an impressive comeback on Sunday, finishing on two-under-par.

In the professional section, Jabulane Mabaso secured second place with a combined score of 149, while Mandla Junior Dlamini clinched the third position with a combined score of 153.
Reflecting on his performance, Pennington expressed, “I was delighted with how I played; the conditions were challenging on Saturday due to the heavy morning rain. However, I managed to capitalise on the improved conditions on Sunday and delivered a strong golf performance. I was satisfied with my game plan, and it made for an enjoyable weekend.”

Pennington extended his gratitude to the Eswatini Professional Golf Association (EPGA) and ESRIC for their unwavering support of the tournament and himself. He also emphasised the significance of winning the tournament as the ambassador of the sponsor, ESRIC. In the amateur section, Nhlanhla Mthethwa emerged as the winner, carding a net score of 70. Following closely behind was Vusi Dlamini, with a net score of 72, while Philip Tiriwepi secured the third spot with a net score of 73.
