MBABANE – Fast improving golfer and Eswatini National Darts Association (ENDA) President, Phumlani ‘Kofi’ Ndwandwe, is celebrating his maiden MTN Masters Golf tournament title.

Ndwandwe outshone a strong field of 59 golfers to claim the top spot at Manzini Golf Club, two days ago. The Manzini Golf Club is becoming Ndwandwe’s happy hunting ground after winning a Leg of Lamb event, about fortnight ago. This past weekend, the champion carded an unmatched 38 points to survive the fierce contest. According to results copied to this publication by the host club, the winner was forced to look over his shoulders by Television Personality Mangaliso Masilela. Ndwandwe conceded that the championship never came on a silver platter, as his endurance was put to the test in the back nine. “I played well in the first nine but in the last, fatigue got the better of me. I would like to thank the club and the sponsor as well as my Coach Thulani Mkhaliphi,” he said.

Completing the list of podium finishers was Mfanizile Dlamini with 35 points. The ever-green Nosmilo Kgomo’s flawless drives in the ladies category, on the other hand, kept her on the podium. She shone in the novelties with a longest drive on 9/18. Also leaving a mark in the novelties was Club Captain Wakie Lawrence. “Thanks to our sponsor MTN Eswatini and to all the golfers who made this day successful,” said the organisers.
