MBABANE – Blessed is the hand that gives than the one that takes.

The above adage holds true for reputable financial service provider, Select Limited, after sponsoring the eagerly-awaited annual Wafa Wafa Half Marathon to the tune of E20 000. The sponsorship launch, which was attended by Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Sports Director Sipho Vilakati, UEDF Athletics Chairperson Alpheus Ngcamphalala, Secretary General (SG) Londiwe Dlamini and Member Mphumelelo Maziya, was held at the company’s premises in Mbabane on Wednesday.

The sponsorship was presented by Select Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bheki Dlamini, in the presence of staff members, including Customer Service Manager Nomcebo Ginindza, who said it was a great pleasure to host the UEDF athletics working committee as they had a long history.

“UEDF and Select Limited have a relationship that dates back many years and most importantly, UEDF is one of Select’s major clients. Select Limited is delighted today to announce the sponsorship of E20 000 towards the Wafa Wafa Half Marathon being hosted by UEDF Athletics Committee,” Dlamini said. He said they believed that the sponsorship would go a long way in motivating the athletes and assisting with the preparations for the entire tournament.

“I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate UEDF for coming up with the idea of hosting the Wafa Wafa Half Marathon on an annual basis. It is our belief that this event will nurture young and upcoming talent in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, UEDF Sports Director Vilakati thanked the financial service provider for the sponsorship, saying that it would go a long way towards the implementation of the event set for tomorrow. The event is penned for Matsapha St George Army Barrack, which is also known as Garrison. According to Ngcamphalala, the race will start at exactly 6am. He urged runners to arrive early as they would not wait for anyone.
