ERU APPLAUDS SENIOR 7S RUGBY CHAMPS
MBABANE – ERU President Bandile Vilakati expressed his satisfaction with the high standard of play displayed during the Senior Men’s 7s Series held at the Malkerns Country Club on Saturday.
Vilakati noted that the impressive quality of the games was a testament to the skill and dedication of the participating athletes, contributing to an enjoyable and competitive event for both players and spectators.

“The high standard of play observed during the games set an optimistic precedent for the remainder of the year. Notably, the progression of players transitioning from the ERU Development series to senior rugby was particularly impressive. Their advancement in core skills can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the Head of Development and the development coaches, whose hard work is paying dividends in the form of enhanced player performance,” he said.

Eswatini Rugby Union (ERU) Communications Manager Phumlani Gumedze stated that the union was pleased with the positive developments observed in the game. Gumedze emphasised the impressive progress of players transitioning from the ERU Development series to senior rugby and credited their improvement to the diligent efforts of the head of development and development coaches. “Witnessing the exceptional performance of young talent competing at the highest level was truly remarkable. The games commenced on a high note than anticipated, with all the clubs demonstrating a strong commitment to nurturing young players. A myriad of promising youngsters displayed their passion for the game, leaving spectators eagerly anticipating the second week of matches.

“There is little doubt that the competition will continue to intensify, culminating in an exhilarating grand finale that promises to be a memorable event for all involved,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Senior Sevens Rugby Championship is set to continue next month, with the grand finale scheduled for May 27 at the same venue.
