ENJABULWENI MTB RACE BACK
MANZINI – After a successful inaugural event following the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the Enjabulweni School Mountain Table Bike Cycle Race is returning on April 11.
The race was officially launched at the Manzini Lifestyle Centre on Thursday evening, and is being sponsored by Spar Buy n Save and Mbabane Motors. The race aims to raise funds for the school’s charitable initiatives, and will offer cash prizes of up to E23 400. The event is expected to be even more exciting and competitive than last year, and will continue to support the school’s mission to give back to the community.
Speaking during the launch, Parents Teacher Association Deputy Chairperson Samantha Hamann said the route would commence at Enjabulweni School ground car park, through Tisuka Housing, into Pierce’s Farm and then out onto the mall, then Maliyaduma Road and back to finish at the school’s sports ground. She explained that the race categories were divided into namely; the chicken run, five kilometres, 10 kilometres, 35 kilometres, as well as 50 kilometres. The deputy chairperson revealed that the price tickets for each race were; E50, E80, E100, E150 and E200 consecutively.
Eligible
Hamann mentioned that only under 15s were eligible to win the prizes in the 10km race. “The total cash prize is E23 400. We also have accommodation packages as well as various massages,” she shared. Hamann mentioned entries would open on April 12, and advised interested participants to make their registrations early. She said the first 100 entries would get a T-shirt. Registration forms are available at Buy n Save Spar Manzini Lifestyle, Ezulwini and Mbabane as well as the school.
There is also a link to register online. Meanwhile, Enjabulweni Board Chairperson Carlos Paiva said having grown up in Manzini over the years, the Mansoor family were the trendsetter, who had grown by leaps and bounds.
He assured the stakeholders of a fantastic event, adding that there would be many more to come. Sabelo Mabuza extended their gratitude to the sponsors who had been quite generous with their finances to allow the MTB race to take place.
Appropriate
“To Spar, we can’t really find the most appropriate words to say. We thank you for being with us on this journey for quite a number of years,” Mabuza said. He said this was the second installment after the corona virus pandemic.
He said they were looking forward to a splendid family day. He said they were hoping to make more than they did the previous year, in order to build more houses for the less privileged. Buy n Save Spar General Manager Johan Leus said the event was going to be a resounding success. He appreciated parents for supporting the shop.
