MBABANE – Sihlangu will look to seal the deal at Mbombela Stadium when they welcome Somalia for the AFCON preliminary qualifiers today.

The second leg of the Africa Cup of Nations preliminary qualifiers is set to kick off at 3pm, with Sihlangu holding a 3-0 advantage from their previous victory over the Ocean Stars. The initial clash was played in Morocco, as Somalia lacks a stadium that meets CAF standards. The upcoming match is expected to be a tough encounter for the Dominic Kunene-led side, as the away side will be seeking to avenge their previous defeat. For the away side to progress to the next stage, they must score at least four goals. Kunene is well aware of the opposition’s resilience and is determined to capitalise on their weaknesses to secure more goals. Even a 1-0 win or a draw for Sihlangu will be sufficient for them to advance. Despite holding the advantage, Kunene anticipates a challenging match and emphasises the need for his squad to give their all. It is worth noting that Somalia has never defeated Eswatini in their previous encounters.

In the last meeting, Eswatini secured a victory with Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido, Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa, and Kwakhe ‘Stopper’ Tfwala, netting three unanswered goals at Stade Ben M’Ahmed El Abdi in Morocco. Somalia’s national team captain, Abdulsamed Abdullahi, expressed confidence in their upcoming match against Sihlangu. Despite their previous loss, he remains optimistic and emphasises their determination to learn from their mistakes and work even harder this time around. He highlighted their focus on achieving a win and their belief in their abilities to come out on top, expressing eagerness to prove themselves in the field.
