MANZINI – Champions Nsingizini Hotspurs midfielder Thubelihle Mavuso has tightened his grip on the MoMo Cup Player of the Tournament award.
For the second time in a row, the former national Under-23s star was the last man standing after helping his side defend the MoMo Cup at Mavuso Sports Centre last night. Hotspurs beat Mbabane Swallows 5-2 after penalties to walk away with the E600 000 first prize. For his achievement, Mavuso who also emerged as the best player in the final bagged E12 000 in total. For the best player of the tournament award alone, he bagged E10 000 and E2 000 for being the Man of the Match (final). “It was through commitment and teamwork. We wanted it more and won it,” said Mavuso.
Meanwhile, during the prize presentation conducted shortly after the final, Nsingizini swept the boards, as Sinenkhosi ‘China’ Dlamini’s three-goal tally was unmatched. He also got E10 000. The Shiselweni-based side further produced the Best Goalkeeper award recipient in shot-stopper Sibusiso Dlamini. He pocketed E5 000. Outstanding media also got recognition on the night, with the Times of Eswatini among the winners in the traditional media category. The best digital media award went to Eswatini Soccer Magazine.
