MBABANE – Supporters play an important role for teams in their quests for championships every season.

They are often dubbed the 12th man. The Times of Eswatini Sports Crew brings you some of the supporters, who brought colour in each and every game for their favourite teams played in different venues across the country, in the recently-ended 2022/23 MTN Premier League season.

Sidumo Ngwenya (M. Wanderers)
The Manzini Wanderers super fan never missed a single game, even when the ship was sinking. Ngwenya was always behind the maroon and white hub giants. He was spotted singing and dancing as he cheered the team from day one until the end. Sidumo is not just a Wanderers supporter but a staunch fan of local football, as he also watched teams in the regions to the elite league.

Bondas Simelane (M. Swallows)
Bondas never missed Mbabane Swallows games. He was always seen in each and every game of the red and white capital city giants. He was always spotted mingling with other supporters and cheering the team, while clad in the team’s colours. He is another local football supporter, who does not watch only his beloved team. He was sometimes seen with other supporters such as Sidumo watching other elite league teams.

Luthando Kunene (M. Highlanders)
Even if the results were not forthcoming, Luthando’s voice never faded. She also led the supporters in song even after the game was over outside the stadiums. She never missed the Inkunzi Emnyama’s games, even when the team was playing down south in Nhlangano at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium or in the east at KaLanga Technical Centre or at Nsukuwansuku Stadium in Mhlume.

Sithawula Tsela (M. Swallows)
What more can be said about this veteran Mbabane Swallows supporter, who has been with Umkhonto KaShaka for decades now. Tsela rarely misses the red and white capital city giant’s matches. He was always seen wearing the ‘Birds’ colourful regalia.

Pitso (G. Mamba)
The championship winning staunch supporter of Green Mamba was always seen cheering the Correctional Services side en route to their third league title since Inyoka Eluhlazane was formed in 1987. Pitso never rested as he was seen running up and down the stadium, cheering on his beloved players. His effort was rewarded by the team with a trophy. He is the champion of all the supporters; congratulations Pitso for bagging your third title.

Delisile Tfwala (M. Wanderers)
‘Deli’ is one of the local football supporters, who have made soccer her daily bread; she is always on the stands watching and cheering the ‘Weslians’. She is one of those supporters who never miss a game for her side.

Sindi ‘Cindy’ Masilela (M. Highlanders)
The Mhlangatane-born Highlanders supporter is one who never misses any activity involving the Chief Ally Kgomongwe-led side. These include games and meetings. She ‘eats and breathes’ Inkunzi Emnyama as she was spotted on the stands cheering the ‘Bull’.

Nozwelo Dlamini (M. Swallows)
Another staunch Swallows supporter who is always out there ‘flying with the Birds’. She was always seen on the stands wherever Umkhonto KaShaka were playing. She was easily spotted with her colourful hair.

Swane Ndzinisa (G. Mamba)
Born ‘a Bird’, the wife to Green Mamba deadly striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa has been of late spotted in most of Inyoka Eluhlazane games cheering on his  husband as well as the Correctional Services side. She was spotted sealing the league victory with a kiss with her husband after the Ernest Mavuso-led side beat defending champions Royal Leopard 2-1 in the last game of the season at Nsukuwansuku Stadium.

Goodwill Khumalo (M. Highlanders)
Khumalo was always a prominent figure in all the black and white capital city giants’ games, wearing the colours of the team. He was recently spotted at Mayaluka Stadium carrying a branch full of lemons, as he was mocking Tambuti in an MTN Premier League game. ‘Nkunzi’emdwayi’ never missed the Solomon ‘Solly’ Luvhengo-led side games.

Elijah Mavimbela (M. Highlanders)
The man who is a replica of the late South Africa (SA)’s DStv Premiership side Orlando Pirates Mgijimi is one of Mbabane Highlanders supporters, who never missed Inkunzi Emnyama’s games.
