MBABANE – “What I know is that the director is still with Moneni Pirates.”

These were the words of Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe, who is the husband of the ‘Sea Robbers’ of Moneni Director Alinah More, when he was shedding light on the position of More in the team. This comes after Pirates wrote a letter inviting her to participate in mediation for dispute resolution in the matter between her and the Moneni Pirates Management Committee (MC).

Pirates were responding to a story which was published in one of the local news publications where the director was quoted saying: “Moneni Pirates were not transparent in their accounting finances”, which the team said it was something which raised eyebrows to all its stakeholders and the nation at large. The misunderstanding between the two parties came after a source within the Pirates structure alleged that Mora was failing to honour her promises towards paying the salaries of the players.

The source revealed that the only financial help they got from the South African businesswoman was E100 000, which was to be paid to FIFA over a ban debt. This amount was acknowledged by the team. The black and white outfit of Moneni skipper Xolani ‘Messi’ Ngwenya once revealed that More paid salaries for two months. However, it was not paid in full, as some players got half and others received a quarter.

Chairman

Kgomongwe revealed that he met with Pirates Chairman Osborne Nzima after the MTN double-header which was played at the Mavuso Sports Centre on Sunday where they discussed the issues concerning the director. “I told Osborne that he must meet the director soon before it was too late to iron out whatever matter between them as what I know is that she is still with Pirates,” Kgomongwe said. He disclosed that More had assigned the family Lawyer Mandla Tshabalala, who would represent and respond on her behalf as she was always busy. He said More was from a royal family and they felt that she should be represented by the royal family lawyer as she could not travel all the way from South Africa to meet Pirates.

“My advice to Moneni Pirates is that, they must write a decent letter to the director as the one they wrote according to Tshabalala was as if they were summoning and not inviting her,” he said. He further shed light on the issue involving the other two big teams in the land, as he said he was not willing to be part of them, but it was the sides that came to him seeking his assistance in finding directors for them. He said he was doing that from his generosity to help improve local football not that he wanted to run all the teams in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
