MBABANE – “It won’t happen again.”

This is the story of a Mbabane Swallows supporter by the name of Alex Dlamini, who came out and revealed that he hit Swallows Head Coach Caleb Ngwenya with a small container because he was angry at the gaffer, after Umkhonto KaShaka lost 2-4 against Royal Leopard last Sunday at Mavuso Sports Centre. This was during the crucial MTN Premier League tie to decide Swallows continental participation. Dlamini, who is from the Sphofaneni branch, said he was disappointed with the former Green Mamba coach. “The coach should have done better, especially when it comes to the way he substituted some players. The Leopard game was very important for the club in increasing our chances of representing the country in the CAF Confederation Cup because we were also hearing that second-placed Young Buffaloes was drawing against Madlenya. “I’m a Mbabane Swallows fan at heart and what the coach is doing in the club, especially in handling the Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze situation, is wrong because we need all Swallows players to be treated equally. The experienced players are also sidelined,” he said.

The supporter, who was taken by the club marshals after throwing the container at the coach, revealed that one of the Swallows players tore his t-shirt. “The player tore my t-shirt and asked me why I threw the object at the coach. I’m hurt with everything that happened in the game, but my actions proved to be out of emotions because of the love for the team and the dream of seeing it play in Africa again,” he added. The player implicated by the fan cannot be named because he could not be drawn for comment. Mbabane Swallows General Manager (GM) Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane, when addressing the team’s supporters on national radio, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS 1) Sports Show on Monday, said supporters should stay calm.
