EZULWINI – The PLE has lived up to its promise to solve the ticket sales challenge.

The organisation has sought the services of a new and lucrative specialised ticket service provider which is set to be introduced soon. The new service provider, Ticketpro, a South Africa-based company is expected to pilot the selling of the tickets in the remaining seven MTN Premier League games and should it pass, it would then be used fully next season. After complaints over MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) Market ticket sale, which lacked transparency to the teams, stadiums owners and fans, PLE has tied a knot with Ticketpro to improve the ticket sale. Currently, a dual system to sell tickets is used as fans buy match tickets at stadiums gates and alternatively on MoMo Market Place.

In a special general meeting held at the Happy Valley Hotel and Casino in Ezulwini yesterday, teams through their Board of Governors (BoGs) and approved the marriage between PLE and Ticketpro.  PLE presented the proposal to engage the ‘bride’ during an administrative workshop on Saturday, which clubs could not resist. PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya was elated by the feat. “In terms of ticketing, the teams are happy to adopt Ticketpro for 2023/ 2024 season and they have approved a pilot. They said ‘let us pilot it in the last remaining fixtures,’ we’ll also be working alongside MoMo Market and the cash sales at the stadiums,” Makhanya said in an interview after the special meeting.

He said Ticketpro would integrate with MoMo, which means tickets would be made available for supporters and fans at stadiums during match days. An impeccable source, who was part of the meeting, revealed that the 28 PLE teams would be given E15 million seasonal voucher to sell to their supporters and fans. “This season tickets will be converted into E1 000 vouchers which each team will roughly have to sell it to at least 535 fans. This means teams will have to sell the vouchers to 15 000 fans and selling more will be a bonus for the teams. Fans will be able to buy food groceries and also watch games with the vouchers,” the source explained.

According to some bits of the proposal presentation leaked to the publication, Ticketpro comes with more sales in less time and could increase sales up to 30 per cent. Some of its distributions networks would be Spar, Boxer, Power Fashion, spaza shop, to name a few. Meanwhile, the draft constitution was also approved and it will now go for approval and endorsement by Eswatini Football Association.
