MBABANE – National First Division outfit Black Swallows have released Head Coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe to rejoin struggling hub giants Manzini Wanderers.

This publication had reported about the interest from Wanderers yesterday. The maroon and white outfit recalled the veteran gaffer in a bid to cheat the axe. “Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows have been approached by Manzini Wanderers requesting permission to negotiate the services of Coach Nyangayezizwe Hlophe. The Coach had been contracted to the club for 12 months.
‘‘After lengthy discussions and consideration of a lot of issues, we realised that the life and death of a beautiful big historic club depends on this decision. ‘‘As a sign of sportsmanship and respect to the Manzini Wanderers brand, the Director of Black Swallows would like to announce that ‘Nyanga’ Hlophe has been released to join Manzini Wanderers,” reads a statement from Black Swallows.

Temptation

Black Swallows thanked the coach for his professional conduct on handling the matter by also respecting the team when he refused the temptation to join Wanderers without seeking the blessings of the director by just disappearing. “We further thank the coach for all the work that he has done for the team,” he said. Reached for comment, the team’s Management Committee Chairman, Berger Nxumalo, confirmed the latest developments and highlighted that the coach was going to work with Mpendulo Mawelela as co-coaches until the rest of the season. “Black Swallows have officially released ‘Nyanga’ to join us. We are very happy to have the coach back in the team and we believe that he will help us together with his technical team move out of the bad position we found ourselves in.

Discuss

‘‘The coach will be working with Mpendulo Mawelela as co-coaches and at the end of the season we will discuss lengthy contractual terms. As the whole Manzini Wanderers family, we would love to thank Charles Matsebula for showing such love to us and we will forever remain indebted to him,” he said. Nxumalo also mentioned that the ‘prodigal son’ would start drilling the hub giants players tomorrow (today). Meanwhile Hlophe said he wanted to thank the whole Black Swallows family for releasing him back ‘home’. “I want to genuinely thank Black Swallows for giving me all the blessings to return to Wanderers. I believe that the team can move out of this situation that we currently find ourselves in. I believe changing the situation in the team is going to be possible if we will all work together in one direction,” he said. Hlophe, who is the oldest coach in the country, has also coached Mbabane Swallows. He once won the league with the latter. He is the most decorated coach in the MTN Premier League, as he boasts four titles. He was the first coach to win the MTN League title with Wanderers in the first ‘Y’ello’ season back in 2002/03.
