MDUDUZI RECLAIMS POLE POSITION

MBABANE – Swazi Slojo’s athlete and Mbabane Parkrunner Mduduzi Dlamini led the way home in the 206th edition of the Mbabane Parkrun yesterday.

Dlamini reclaimed the pole position from Swazi Slojo’s teammate Sibusiso Shabangu, who was the first runner home last week, beating Dlamini by 19 seconds. The runner in yesterday’s edition completed the 5km course in a time of 17:25 minutes, which was a second better than Shabangu’s first position of 17:26 which he recorded last week. Shabangu was breathing heavily on Dlamini’s neck as he claimed the second spot 11 seconds behind.  The third runner home was unregistered and James Matse completed the top four finishers in a time of 18:23 minutes. Young runner Phiwokuhle Bulunga, who missed the previous edition, was back to stamp her authority in the ladies category as she claimed the first position in a time of 22:56 minutes.

Lady

The second lady home was UNESWA athlete Gcinile Magongo who arrived at the finish line at 23:28 minutes. Runner Calisile Mthethwa completed the top female runners in a time of 27:54 minutes. Meanwhile, the record which was set by Nkululeko Gama in the 36th edition on January 6, 2018 of 14:56 minutes remains unbroken, the same applies to the ladies category as the runners are failing to break the record of 20:02 minutes, which was set by Gugu Mthembu on April 28, 2018.
