MBABANE – The first Eswatini female football player to ever play abroad, former Young Buffaloes Ladies striker Tenanile Ngcamphalala is back at home after the elapse of her one-year contract with Equatorial Guinea’s Malabo Kings.

The latter is hopeful of rejoining her former team and make use of the second registration window period opening tomorrow. Although her transfer was criticised and marked by allegations of failing to follow player transfer protocol, the player hoisted the Kingdom of Eswatini flag in Guinea as she won the golden boot in her first season where she scored eight goals. Malabo Kings were crowned champions of the 2021/22 Equatoguinean Women First Division side, making Ngcamphalala the first Eswatini female soccer player to play for a foreign team and take home a golden boot.

Noteworthy is that premier league players, who have played for foreign teams, have not yet managed to bring home an award of this magnitude. Young Buffaloes Manager Bonga Ngcamphalala confirmed these developments. “Tenanile is back in the country. Her contract ended and we are waiting for the second window period to open on Monday then reregister her for Buffaloes ladies. She is already training with the team but we are still wrapping up some paper work for the transfer. We hope to see her play next weekend,” said Buffaloes manager.
The Sitsebe Samhlekazi striker scored 23 goals in 12 games last season before joining the West African outfit. She scored two braces in Sitsebe’s 2019 and 2020 COSAFA Women’s Championship competition when they played against Mozambique and Angola.

Mgcamphalala said he was happy to be back home and was hopeful that with the experience she gained in Equatorial Guinea, she would help Buffaloes improve tactically. “I hope to inspire my team back to the champions league again and this time around we are looking for better results,” Ngcamphalala said.
