MBABANE – In reaction to Mbabane Swallows’ unveiling of new head coach and physical trainer on Thursday, Siyabonga Bhembe has shared what it means to work for this big team.

Swallows have unveiled former Mbabane City, Vovovo, Green Mamba and Ezulwini United gaffer, Caleb Ngwenya as their head coach.
This was after lunch in their offices at the industrial sites, Sheffield Road.  Ngwenya was unveiled alongside their legend Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini, who is back only several months since parting ways with the red and white outfit.

He later joined elite rookies Nsingizini Hotspurs this season. Dlamini takes over as the physical trainer, a position that was held by the experienced Bhembe, who was at the helm at Swallows until last Thursday when he was served with a letter terminating his two-year contract. “They must go and work. Swallows are a big team they need to know that there’ll always be pressure. It is all about winning there and two defeats can mean a lot for the coaches. That’s how big the team and pressure is for the incoming coach,” Bhembe said upon learning of the unveiling.

Confident

Nonetheless, he said he was confident that Ngwenya would come in with his own philosophy to take the team forward, saying if results stayed positive, then they would be okay with the supporters as Swallows were one of the country’s biggest teams and renowned for winning titles. “I lost two matches during my time working with Manyatsi so I know exactly what I’m talking about. The next game is against Wanderers and they always rise to the occasion against Swallows even when they are in their worst days,” Bhembe warned.

Underestimate

He said it was important for Ngwenya, his assistant Musa Manyatsi and Siza not to underestimate the hub side when the league resumes next week. Meanwhile, Bhembe is expected to get a termination of contract pay-out from his club. He served Swallows longest in the country before skipping the border to join Mbombela United about two years ago. He also returned home to work for Mbabane Highlanders in the 2020/21 season.
