EZULWINI – Christmas has arrived early for Mbabane Highlanders.

This was after the black and white capital city giants Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe delivered good news to the team’s supporters in an extra-ordinary meeting, which was held at CODEC in Ezulwini yesterday.
The South African businessman and politician was addressing the supporters on the issues that were currently happening in the ‘Bull’s kraal, including the resignation of Acting Chairman Clement Dlamini and Public Relations Officer Mandla Madonsela, when he announced the news of a big investment for the team.

“I would like to announce that I am currently busy making an investment for the team from my own pocket, worth E5 million. I will present the finer details of the investment to you in our next meeting,” Kgomongwe said. He also said at the moment he was busy with his four counterparts back in South Africa opening other businesses including setting up a mining company. “This mine, if all goes according to plan, will be Mbabane Highlanders’ official sponsor; this will make us the first team to have such a huge sponsorship in the country,” he said.

He also said he loved Inkunzi Emnyama with all his heart and would not trade it for any club in the country, but would rather go back to South Africa and relax in his farms. “The reason I’m saying this is that I have heard rumours that I am linked with Moneni Pirates. This is not true as the people who are busy talking this cannot even produce a marriage certificate to prove that,” he fumed.

Kgomongwe revealed that local teams were the ones who called him for help as the chairman of the Simunye Group ‘We are one’, whose objective was to have one voice as football teams of Eswatini. The Simunye Group is formed by Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows, Manzini Wanderers, Moneni Pirates as well as Tambankulu Callies.
On another note, Kgomongwe addressed the supporters on the Mavuso Sports Centre mayhem, whereby the fans bayed for referee Mbongeni Shongwe’s blood after he allowed a goal scored by Manzini Sea Birds Sandumuzi Zwane using his hand.

“I can’t blame you for the incident that happened at Mavuso, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) must first of all find the symptoms of this football sickness,” he said. The MD further said had this happened to another country that player would have been suspended as he publicly admitted that he used his hand to score the goal. Meanwhile, Kgomongwe has filled the voids that were created by the departure of the two members of the Managing Committee (MC). He said on Friday his office received the resignation letter of Acting Chairman Clement Dlamini, but did not receive that of Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mandla Madonsela as he learnt through social media that he was no longer their PRO.

“I hope that I will find time with Madonsela and have  a one-on-one session to get his side of the story and maybe get his resignation letter, but for now we must get people to fill the voids,” he said. Kgomongwe announced Chairman of Elders Musa Masuku as the club’s acting chairman as well as former National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman Kenneth Dlamini, as the acting PRO.
