MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA)’s Players Status Committee (PSC) has ruled in favour of Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows in a case involving one of their players.

This comes after the national team Under-20 player Sinenkhosi ‘China’ Dlamini has run to the PSC over contractual issues against his club. A source close to the Pigg’s Peak-based side revealed that the youngster’s contract was signed by his parents on his behalf, because he was still young as he recently turned 18. It has been brought to the attention of the Sports Desk that the enterprising winger believes that the contract he has with the MTN National First Division (NFD) is null and void.

“The player took the team to the PSC as he claims that he has no contract with Black Swallows, yet he is contracted to the club until 2025 and the committee ruled against him as they said he was rightfully a Swallows player,” the source said. The source further said the PSC disclosed that the contract signed by the player’s parents was legally binding him to the club, until it expires. When sought for comment Bafana Bemaphasela, as Swallows is fondly known in football circles, Brand and Marketing Officer Philile Dlamini confirmed that the team was taken to the PSC, but they ruled in their favour as the player rightfully belonged to them.

“The boy was misled by certain clubs, who told him to fetch his contract from us as it was invalid. In football this does not exist as by FIFA standard a player’s contract is held by his club,” Dlamini said. Dlamini also warned teams to desist from poaching their players and should follow the right channels when they want a player. “It is our policy that we don’t stand on the way of our players as our principle is to groom them. Teams should respect that,” she said. She finally said they would not tolerate premier league teams to bully them as small teams.
