SCOTTISH RUNNER IN MBABANE PARKRUN

MBABANE – The 191st Mbabane Parkrun edition welcomed an international Parkrunner David Main-Reade from Edinburgh Parkrun in Scotland.

The Mbabane Parkrun was also visited by three runners from Manzini, who took part, as they wanted to have a feel of the turf. The runners from the Manzini Parkrun who were welcomed by Mbabane Parkrun were Neliswa Mamba, Mciniseli Maphalala and Neliswa Maphalala, who wanted to challenge their counterparts in their home turf. Overall, the event welcomed 57 parkunners, made up of 32 men, 15 ladies and 10 unregistered runners.
It was a close contest, with the top four runners, who were battling to be first at home as they were separated by just 20 seconds.

It was Swazi Slojo’s Mduduzi Dlamini, who continues to stamp his authority at the Mbabane Parkrun, as he was once again the first runner home with a time of 17:34 minutes. He was followed by Wandile Dludlu with a time of 17:40 minutes, which was a new personal best (PB) for him. Completing the top three was Manzini parkrunner Neliswa Mamba, who completed the 5km race in a time of 17:47 minutes. In fourth position was Sibusiso Shabangu who reached the winning point after 17:54 minutes.

Meanwhile, Phiwokuhle Bulunga continued to shine as she was the first lady home in a time of 23:17 minute. In the process, she claimed her 10th first place finish in the ladies race to become the sixth most successful lady runner. Bulunga was followed by Nokuphiwa Zwane in a time of 23:50 minutes, which was her new PB; coming third was Manzini junior runner Neliswa Maphalala, who clocked 28:59 minutes.  Completing the top four was Sabusiswa Manana in a time of 38:11 minutes.
