MBABANE – “Soccer is my life.”

This famous quote by Ethan Zohn could have inspired Sebastian Coach to travel all the way from Germany to Eswatini to watch Royal Leopard in action, after following the country’s 2022 TOTALEnergies CAF Champions League envoys on their Facebook page. The ‘Ingwe Mabalabala’ international supporter was in the country over the weekend to watch the Edwin Matsebula-led side battling for the spot in the 2022 TOTALEnergies CAF Champions League group stages against Cameroon’s Coton Sport.

The game was played at Mavuso Sports Centre on Sunday and it ended in a 1-all draw, with Leopard goal scored by Sifiso Matse. Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube shared that their good showing in both domestic and international football had attracted a supporter from Germany. “It’s true that we have a Germany supporter, who solely came to the country to watch us against Coton Sport. He arrived in the country on Saturday for the game,” Hurube said. The seasoned football administrator said, as Leopard, they were happy to have attracted Coach, all the way from Germany to the country. “We are happy; this is good for the team as well as the country’s football at large,” he said.

boost

Hurube said this would also boost the country’s tourism industry as Coach had promised that he would come back with other supporters from Germany, as some of his friends were now supporting the police side. He further said the team would be leaving the country soon for the second leg, to be played in Cameroon this coming weekend, as they anticipated to arrive there on Friday. The winner on aggregate score will proceed to the group stage and will be guaranteed E9.7 million for achieving that feat, while the loser will be relegated to the TOTALEnergies CAF Confederations Cup.
