MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers supporters want the club’s Director, Cendric Mathata and the Management Committee (MC) to step down from their positions with immediate effect.

The South African businessman signed a five-year contract with the maroon and white hub giants when he joined them two seasons ago and there are three seasons left in the contract. The supporters conveyed a special meeting which was held at the club’s offices in Manzini, while the elders also held their own meeting in a different venue around the city on Thursday.

Farewell

A member of the National Supporters Committee (NSC), who preferred to remain anonymous, said initially the meeting was for the elders and supporters to bid farewell to the MC and the director. “The current situation in the team is not conducive for the club to perform due to financial challenges faced here as we don’t know where our director is. Someone told us that he was abroad. So, yesterday (Thursday) we wanted the MC and the director to officially step down from Manzini Wanderers,” the source said. He also said the Chairman, Mlungisi ‘Mluka’ Ndzinisa, urged the supporters to meet with them as an MC next week Thursday, but the source felt that the chairman had requested a lot of time as they wanted to fix the challenges.

Meanwhile, NSC Chairman Lucky ‘Majayivane’ Dlamini said there were a lot of things not going well in the team as the club did not have a proper Constitution. “We had a meeting on Thursday to discuss a lot of things that were not going well in the club, we don’t even have a Constitution but drafts and I can’t hide the fact that we have financial challenges,” he said. He also said another issue that was burning as supporters was that of the unregistered foreign players, which he, however, revealed that after the meeting the team was doing something to have the players registered.
“I would like to urge the Manzini Wanderers family to remain united and not finger each other, but let’s work collectively to find a solution,” he said.
Wanderers Chairman, Ndzinisa said since they had been in office, they were open to leave.

“There is no one who had come forward to declare interest in taking the team forward. Who in his right mind will refuse to shift for someone with loads of cash? Sandile made it clear a long time ago that if there is someone ready to lead and improve from where we have placed the club, let them come forward with that person. We found the club languishing in number last, and we brought back respect, even now we signed exceptional talent that will propel us to greater heights. Whoever feels ready to pump in the money and work with his own management is free to contact the rightful persons and I don’t think there can be any problems at all,” he said.
