MBABANE – Nedbank Eswatini has announced a sponsorship of E100 000 for the COSAFA Under-20s tournament that kicks off tomorrow at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Known for its, ‘see money differently’ tag line, Nedbank is the second company to show some generous support to Eswatini Football Association (EFA) after Inyatsi’s sponsorship of E2 million last Friday. Speaking on behalf of Nedbank Managing Director (MD) when presenting the sponsorship yesterday at Sigwaca House, Khetsiwe Mdluli said Nedbank was proud to associate itself with the hosting of the tournament. “We believe there’s a great potential to develop football in Eswatini which is in line with Nedbank’s purpose to do good for communities especially at the grassroots level. “Our relationship with EFA stretches over decades as we have partnered with them to sponsor local teams that represented Eswatini in the Orange CAF Championships over the years. We do believe that it this is the start for us, as the COSAFA tournament is concerned  and we hope that this will nurture and grow our partnership for the betterment of the beautiful game in Eswatini,” Mdluli said.

Meanwhile, EFA President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane, who delivered a token of appreciation to the Nedbank expressed EFA’s genuine gratitude and said the bank’s name would be inscribed as sponsor in the advertising category of the tournament. The E100 000 would be used towards the successful hosting of the tournament according to Simelane. “We salute and treasure your investment to the game of football in particular, the drive to aid the hosting of the forthcoming international football contest,” the president said. Meanwhile, the points of collections of the free tickets would be announced today. The men’s juniors’ tournament kicks off with clashes between Zambia and Mauritius as  well as Eswatini and Botswana late tomorrow, the tournament also acts as the 2023 TOTALEnergies AFCON Qualifiers. Entry is free.
