MBABANE – Royal AM Director Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize has rubbished claims from a Facebook post about Mbabane Highlanders boss Ally Kgomongwe.

This came after a fake Facebook post that started circulating on Wednesday, suggested that the reputable Highlanders boss asked certain favours from MaMkhize. Both the post and the Facebook account have been proven to be fake. After the post went viral on Facebook and reached MaMkhize, she set the record straight, saying she did not have a Facebook account in the first place. Kgomongwe decided to call this publication to say it needed to be addressed since people had already seen it. He said it was tarnishing his image and referred this publication to the press statement that was published on the team’s Facebook page.

He said they talked about this with MaMkhize over the phone and were on the same page regarding the issue. “Mbabane Highlanders Football Club have noted a circulating message purportedly from the Royal AM director painting a very bad picture of not only our director but our football at large as a country,” read part of the press statement. “We have verified the authenticity of this and it has been proven and confirmed by MaMkhize that it’s fake. We have a very good and healthy working relationship with MaMkhize and she has vowed to leave no stone unturned in finding the culprit,” read another part.

“It’s of note that this fake message was created by a Swazi (liSwati), looking at most of the comments and friends of this fake account. May we plead with the author of this fake massage to stop this barbaric act which is not only tarnishing the image of our hard working director but football at large,” further reads the statement. In the statement, Highlanders highlighted that football needed more people of Ally’s caliber. “We cannot therefore as Swazis (emaSwati) be seen to be biting the hands that feed us because that will turn away other sponsors who might wish to contribute to our football just like Mr Kgomongwe. It takes a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication to build a brand and reputation like ours ,” reads the last part of the statement.

Highlanders further urged soccer loving people to dedicate more time and energy in building and contributing positively towards sustaining and developing football. The local side further appealed to the masses to use social media responsibly and constructively for the benefits of the team. The press statement was issued by the club assistant Manager Makhosonkhe Gama.
