MBABANE – “Education is power.”

The above adage holds true for former Mbabane Highlanders midfield maestro Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule, as he contemplates continuing with his studies this academic year. The former national team Sihlangu star is currently a free agent. His contract was not renewed by the black and white capital giants, as both parties failed to reach an agreement. The former Denver Sundowns skipper revealed that his main focus now was to further his studies, as he currently held a Diploma in Call Centre Service.

“It is not that I’m quitting football, but my main priority this is year is go back to class to do a Degree in Call Centre Services as you know that football is a short-term career,” Mlaba said. The left-footed former Umbelebele player said in football it was important to have plan B to prepare for life after.
“I don’t want to find myself in a situation whereby I will be forced to play for a team that I don’t want to, due to pressure. That is why I’ve decided to go back to class in the meantime,” he said.

He was, however, quick to highlight that his doors were wide open for a team that would want to utilise his services, but they should table an offer that would suit him. ‘Mlaba’ joined Mbabane Highlanders five years ago and was part of the squad that ended the trophy drought after winning the 2019 Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup.
