IT’S NOT OVER YET – LEOPARD CAF OPPONENTS

NGWENYA – Eswatini’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League envoys Royal Leopard’s opponents CFFA of Madagascar are confident of overturning the 2-3 deficit suffered in the first leg last Sunday.

On arrival at the Oshoek Border Gate yesterday, CFFA Coach Titi Rasoanaivo declared their readiness to grind the result on the road in the preliminary round decider at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday. Action gets underway at 3pm. “Leopard are more experienced than us. We need to correct the mistakes committed in the first leg, so we’re here for a win.
“We have a defence to rectify and an attack to perfect,” he said. Rasoanaivo, who aims to reach the group stages of Africa’s premier club competition, said they would parade a relatively unchanged side for the clash.

Meanwhile, a delegation from Leopard and the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs was at the border to meet the team on arrival around 9am yesterday. The islanders’ 30-member delegation arrived on board two sprinter buses hired in Johannesburg. In the absence of a direct flight to South Africa, the CFFA delegation made a stopover in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, before heading to the neighbouring country. While a government bus had been provided to transport the visitors from the border to their camp base at The George Hotel in Manzini, the team opted to use the hired transport until reaching their final destination. They briefly exchanged pleasantries with Leopard officials comprising PRO Frank Hurube before being escorted to the hotel. At least 20 players are here for the crucial assignment.

Leopard, on the other hand, need a draw to advance to the second round of the preliminary round after a good outing in Madagascar. A 1-0 or 2-1 loss will still be enough for Leopard to go through, as they can advance on away goals. If the game finishes 3-2 in favour of the visitors, it will be decided on penalties. Entry fee to the game is E40.
