WE’RE READY FOR COMRADES - ATHLETES

MANZINI – Athletes have declared their readiness for the South Africa’s Comrades Marathon after competing in the KwaMagogo Legacy Walk/Run on Saturday.

The duo of Jabulani and Sibusiso Dlamini from Golden Foot Club (GFC) was among the runners who competed in the 21km on Saturday and they would be running the Comrades Marathon which is an ultra-marathon of approximately 89 kilometres (55 miles) which is run between the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

The Comrades marathon will be held on August 28 and there are about 40 runners from GFC who entered for the race. Jabulani Dlamini (48), said they needed such a race like the KwaMagogo to boost their confidence. He said there had been few races this year and they hoped to be able to run effectively in South Africa. “We were not after our time here but it a practice session. We want to build stamina that will boost us to finish the Comrades Marathon with ease. Running also keeps one physically fit and healthy,” he said. Sibusiso Dlamini said they enjoyed the new route in the KwaMagogo Legacy walk/ run. He said from now on they would be training in preparation for the Comrades marathon.
