MBABANE – Her transfer may remain controversial, but she has defied all odds to be the top goalscorer with 23 goals in Equatorial Guinea Women Football League.

She was presented with her Golden Boot Award last weekend as reports started flooding social media platforms yesterday. One post by Beyond the Borders on EswatiniSoccer.com shared the country’s senior national football team Sitsebe’s star’s achievement alongside her expression of joy. Ngcamphalala’s transfer from Buffaloes to her team Malabo Kings left a bitter taste with the army side, as they revealed they were surprised she was in Equatorial Guinea. Nonetheless, she plies her trade there and makes a living as a foreign player.

Goals

Her 23 goals won her the gong, while also leading her team to the Women First Division League title for 2021/22. The cherry on top for her is that she achieved her 23 goals in only just 12 games. Interestingly, her goal tally is one that her former team Buffaloes would repeatedly score in only one game in the recently-ended league locally.

“Definitely, I’m very happy. Coming all the way from a Eswatini to a foreign land to win something means a lot. I wasn’t expecting to get the Top Goal Scorer award but God being faithful I got it,” she is quoted as having said to EswatiniSoccer.com. Her club, Malabo Kings FC is said to have emerged champions after outsmarting DVO Evinayong to clinch the title last weekend.

The 2021 TOTALEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League semi-finalists needed a better goal difference to separate them from second-placed DVO Evinayong. This was, after five rounds of matches in the title playoffs competition. “The goals made the difference for us to win the league, as we had the same points with the runners-up,” she added.

Efforts to get the player were not immediately successful while Eswatini Women Football Association (EWFA) President, Sonnyboy Mabuza, could not comment, instead referred questions to his office. However, the EWFA Secretary Aaron ‘Katalala’ Mavimbela could not be reached, as his cellphone rang unanswered. Buffaloes’ Bongani Ngcamphalala said they were very happy for Tenanile’s achievements in the foreign country. “We are very happy for her for shinning in Equatorial Guinea. This means we really did a good job when training her,” Ngcamphalala said.
He said she should keep up the good work and continue raising the country’s flag high.
