MBABANE – Boys were being separated from men in the ongoing Dixie’s International Pool League second round.

Given the high scores from last Saturday’s matches, the title race will be interesting, as five teams are in it at the moment with star-studded Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) at the summit with a narrow lead. They are one point ahead of second-placed Correctional Services; three from Manzini Pool Club on third; then six from fourth and fifth-placed Way Inn and Manzini Masters, respectively. REPS are the defending champions of the league and as things stand, they look poised to go all the way and win it for the second time running as they are one game behind their rivals. Of the top four teams, REPS, Correctional and Way Inn recorded bonus wins which meant instead of three points for a win, they took home four.

Rivals

This followed that they all scored 13 frames while their rivals managed less than seven frames in their matches. REPS outfoxed Stairs 13-5; Correctional were too much for Phocweni with a 13-4 rout while Way Inn showed the way with a 13-4 win as well against Ludzeludze II. Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) Secretary Musa Dlamini also mourned the passing on of Vusi Masuku, who was a big pool fan and watched games involving REPS. Masuku was a Deputy Commissioner at REPS when he met his demise last week following a car accident. “You have my deepest sympathy and unwavering support. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow,” Dlamini said to Masuku’s family. He then thanked REPS for ensuring that the suspension of their player Norman Khoza was implemented accordingly, as he had not been attending games as per the expectation by the Eswatini Cue Sports Association (ECSA).
