‘BULL’ BACK IN SITEKI TOMORROW FOR REPLAY

MBABANE – The three MTN Premier League games which were abandoned two days ago due to bad weather, will be replayed tomorrow.

The three games were called off after hailstorm, thunder and lightning were experienced in most parts of the country. Title chasers Mbabane Highlanders’ replay against Malanti Chiefs is billed for KaLanga Technical Centre in Siteki at 2pm, while Mbabane Swallows will face Tambankulu Callies at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. Green Mamba will host Moneni Pirates at Mayaluka Stadium. All other games will also kick-off at 2pm. The replays saw week 27 that was billed for tomorrow shifted to the weekend. The fixtures were released by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati.

Referee Thembinkosi Dlamini had to call off the match between title chasers Mbabane Highlanders and relegation threatened Malanti Chiefs with nine minutes remaining before full-time at KaLanga Technical Centre with the score at 1-all.

It got dark while there were no floodlights at the venue. While the referee was consulting with Match Commissioner Mbongiseni Fakudze, heavy downpour was experienced and it saw the about 500 supporters running for cover, while the players rushed to the dressing rooms. Mbabane Swallows were cruising 2-0 against Tambankulu Callies when a heavy hailstorm fell and the pitch was unplayable. “All the MTN PLE week 27 fixtures that were scheduled to be played on Wednesday have been postponed to a later date, to allow the replays of the MTN PLE week 26 games which were abandoned due to force majeure,” reads a statement from PLE.
