‘SWAZI BOLT’ SHINES IN SA

MBABANE – Eswatini’s top athlete Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa won the ASA Grand Prix 100m in Bloemfontein, South Africa on Wednesday.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) sprinter continues to hoist the country’s flag in international competitions, as in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games he set two national records of 20:34 and 20:22. The fastest man in the country clocked 10.50 and was closely followed by Madiba’s Luxolo Adams, who clocked 10.54.

Matsenjwa when reached for comment thanked the Government of Eswatini for allowing him to participate in the tournament. “I would like to thank the government, through the National Commissioner, for releasing me so I could prepare and fly the country’s flag high,” he said. He also thanked the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association for the financial support they gave him, as he prepares for the upcoming 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
