MBABANE – MTN Premier League log leaders Mbabane Highlanders have been dealt a major blow as experienced versatile player Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze will be out of action for two weeks.

The capital giants are leading the pack with 39 points in 17 games, but should Royal Leopard win their pending game against Vovovo they will reclaim the top position. The country’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives Ingwe Mabalabala are second on the log with 38 points in 18 games. Highlanders Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mandla Madonsela said the player suffered an injury during one of their training sessions.

“Yes Sawa is out injured after a muscle pull and the doctors also said he damaged soft tissues on his left leg,” Madonsela said. He said the player was rushed to hospital where doctors put him on plaster to speed up the healing process. “In fact, the doctors put him on a half plaster to protect his foot from moving and we are hopeful that in two weeks he would be fully recovered,” he said.

Worried

Meanwhile, Coach Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala said they were not worried that much about the injury of Gamedze as they would play their next game in April. “Sawa will have enough time to recover as we will play in April, the whole healing process will take two weeks,” Mosala said. He also said they were not worried when one of their players got injured as they have depth in the team, and it gives opportunities to other players to shine.
