MBABANE – Royal Leopard should be wary of an Orlando Pirates backlash.

After back-to-back defeats in the DStv Premiership, Pirates coach co-coach Fadlu Davids has come to say their focus is solely on the CAF Confederation Cup. Davids made these comments after seeing his side being booted out of the Nedbank Cup in the round of 16 after losing 5-4 on penalties to holders Marumo Gallants, following a 1-1 draw in full time. The Nedbank Cup was played on Wednesday at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The Buccaneers will host Eswatini CAF envoys; Royal Leopard at Orlando Stadium on Sunday, kick-off time is 6pm. This will be during Group B’s second leg match to be played in Johannesburg, South Africa. The first leg, which was played at Mbombela Stadium on February 27, saw the Bucs cruising to a 6-2 victory. Some of the information was sourced from kick-off.com. “We have to lift the boys now, out of the Nedbank, our full focus now on CAF coming up on Sunday. It was a situation of Lorch, with so many games coming, he came on and got injured, it tells you the players are feeling the effects of so many games. It was difficult for us, bringing him on and we have to take him off again,” Davids told SuperSport TV.
He said they had to lift their heads high after losing the derby and the Nedbank Cup. “We have to lift our heads up, put our chests out and go for the CAF competition, that’s what we have to focus on, on Sunday,” he said.

He said it was of no use to complain but gear up for the CAF game against Leopard. “I mentioned the Lorch injury but we can’t complain about the tiredness now, we have to go for the CAF competition. The three points will help us in qualifying for the next round,” he added. Meanwhile Royal Leopard coach Edwin Matsebula said the 5-0 win against Milling Hot spurs ahead of the CAF encounter was a confidence booster. He said Pirates were not invincible; they could win and was positive they could qualify to the next stage in the TotalEnergies sponsored tournament. If Leopard lose this game they are good as out of the competition as only the leaders in each group qualify to the next round. The police ensemble are at the bottom of Group B with no point after three games, while Pirates are second with six points.
