MBABANE – The violence in stadiums by Mbabane Swallows fans during games have not gone unnoticed as the team’s Council of Elders are now concerned about it.

The burning issue that concerns the elders was the one that occurred in Nhlangano at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium during an MTN Premier League game between the ‘Beautiful Birds’ of Mbabane and rookies Rangers. The Shiselweni-based side shocked the over 100 Mbabane Swallows supporters as they surprised Mbabane Swallows by beating them 2-1.
The supporters cried for the then head Coach Christopher Ennin’s head on the block as they attacked him, including a sports reporter from this publication.

Mbabane Swallows Council of Elders Chairman Absalom Mvana Ngwenya alongside Secretary to the council, Enock Nkosi, visited the Times of Eswatini offices to send a friendly warning to their supporters. “We are here as Elders of Mbabane Swallows to warn our supporters on the unsporting behaviour that is invading our beautiful nest,” Ngwenya said. He said they have noted that the supporters were now law onto themselves as they assaulted leaders who were assigned by the President Bheki Lukhele, to lead the club. “We are giving our supporters a friendly and fatherly advice that this unaccepted behaviour should stop, as no one has the power to mistreat or assault coaches and everyone in the team’s management,” he said. He also apologised on behalf of everyone associated with the team to the president for the unsporting misconduct and promised that this would never happen again. “Anyone to have been found doing something wrong would be brought to book and hauled before the Disciplinary Committee,” he said.
