MBABANE – Moneni Pirates new Chairperson Gigi Reid’s main objective is to rebrand and re-introduce the local ‘Sea Robbers’ as one of the best teams in the country.

The top lawyer, who trades as Gigi A Reid Attorneys International, said her objective was to bring renewed value, moral and status to the team. ‘Amabhakabhaka’ have been searching for someone to help them financially since the departure of Zimbabwean Lawyer Nqobizitha Mlilo. “The overall plan is to re-introduce Moneni Pirates as the team that will change the trajectory of soccer in our country,” Reid said.

She stated that her plan included restructuring of the team, which included the registration of the club as a legal entity. The chairperson said this had been achieved. She said sales of shares in the entity in various share catagories would be available to interested institutions and individuals including the fans. “The administrative system would be overhauled to operate in line with full corporate compliance requisites and committees formed to assist the executive in its mandate, this would not exclude the voice of the fans both existing and new ones,” Reid explained.

She said her plan was to take Moneni Pirates back to their rightful place in Eswatini football and to empower the boys to make good decisions that would help them in the future. Reid said working collectively by including all perspectives from the old regime and the new was the only way to achieve the desired dream and greater vision of the team. “I will seek to integrate my community work with the services of the amazing Buccaneers,” she said. Reid revealed that as part of giving back to the community, the team would be involved in community services this, she said, would help bring closer the players to the public and to know them.
