MBABANE – Hub giants, Manzini Wanderers have finally found the right man to replace retired coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe.

Velekhaya Mthethwa, a former Sihlangu assistant coach has been named the new Wanderers coach. He will be assisted by Zimbabwean mentor Terisayi Changara. This was confirmed by the team Director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini yesterday. “We have decided that since Velekhaya Mthethwa led Wanderers for two and half seasons. That means he would lead the team until the end of the season and continue for the next two seasons. He is replacing our retired former head coach Hlophe, who did well with the team,” said Dlamini. When asked why they preferred Mthethwa out of all the coaches in Eswatini, he said. “Mthethwa is a born Wanderers person and we trust he will continue where Nyanga left. He knows the culture of the team and we are positive he will achieve our mandate,” he said.

The team’s mandate was this season, he said it was to finish inside the top four. He also highlighted that they had to break the managerial positions into two. “We had to create logistics manager and team manager positions. “The logistics manager is Themba Tsabedze, while team manager is Bhekithemba Shongwe. We do trust that they will all work in hand with other members of the MC,” he said. Other members of the MC are Chairman Mlungisi Ndzinisa, CEO Bheki Mazibuko and Treasurer Sanele Zwane.
Efforts to get comments from Mthethwa were futile as he was not reached by the time of compiling the report. He also did not respond to messages which were sent to him on WhatsApp.
