MBABANE – After they conquered Algeria’s JS Kabylie in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round, Royal leopard have been handed time to rest by CAF.

CAF has since postponed Leopard’s clash against Libya’s Al-Ittihad to March 6. The  first round of the group stages will be playing this weekend and Leopard, who are on their way back home, were due to play on Sunday. Their first game will now be played on February 20, where they will travel back to Algeria to face Saoura with their next fixture, the much eagerly awaited clash against South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, billed for February 27 here at home and away a week later.

The police ensemble defeated Algeria’s JS Kayblie on an away goal as the matches ended 2-all on aggregate. Leopard started their campaign for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the Champions League and they lost going down to the CAF Confederation Cup, where they have realised their dream of reaching the group stages for the first time. Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube said he was aware of the notification postponing the first group stages game, but there was nothing official. “It will be good for us as we have some pending games in the MTN Premier League and we may use this time to play those games. We are heading for a tight schedule ahead and we are not supposed to miss a lot in the league,” he said.
