MBABABE – They were simply the best.

Swim Lab pair of Hayley Hoy and Damien de Souza were unstoppable during the SNG Grant Thorton Swazi Mile. The event was held at the Luphohlo Recreational Park side yesterday. While Hoy was the overall winner in the Two Swazi Mile, De Souza was the overall champion. Hoy finished the 3.2km in 54 minutes, while De Souza crossed the finish line of the 1.6km in 27:01 minutes.

Hoy said the 3.6km was harder than she expected because of the waves. “To be honest with you, I did not expect to win because I was the youngest (13). However, throughout the race I think it helped me to interchange the freestyle and backstroke. Both this combination of strokes kept me going and before I knew it I was at the end and the first,” said Hoy. There were only three competitors in the 3.2km which were Hoy, the winner, Robyn Young (21) and Chris Stapley. In the 1.6km where De Souza won, he was competing with over 30 swimmers of different age groups. More report and results in next edition.
