MBABANE – Royal Leopard will make their fourth attempt to honour their second leg game against Algeria’s JS Kayblie in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The game has been rescheduled for the fourth time to Thursday in Algeria. The Police side were due to leave the country yesterday for the game that was initially scheduled for Wednesday but due to travelling restrictions in some of the European countries, they failed to undertake the trip. The games initial dates were December 5, 2021 but due to the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, it was postponed twice in December. A source close to the matter said frustration was growing within the team but they will honour the game despite the challenges.

Leopard will be going to this second leg match with a 1-0 lead and the winner between the two sides will join group B in the group stages that comprise of South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, JS Saoura (Algeria) and Al Ittihad (Libya). Leopard did not play their week 12 of the MTN Premier League against Young Buffaloes as they were due to leave for the clash. Eswatini Football Association (EFA) President, Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane said there were challenges but they were working on them. He said the team failed to secure a gate pass in Italy. They will now travel for over 20 hours as they will have to go via Turkey this time around. Leopard will travel having surrendered the top spot in the MTN Premier League but with a game in hand. Highlanders took the top spot yesterday with a 1-0 win over Mbabane Swallows.
